Clark Elementary Science Fair
Register to participate.
All SHARK-Es wishing to display a project at the fair must register in advance through this online form. We strongly encourage early registration in order to reserve your space and your project board. Final registration deadline is February 19.
Projects should be student driven and a TESTABLE question.
Project ideas should come from the students, and the project should be driven by them. Parents should use their best judgment in deciding when to get involved, such as when there is a potential safety issue. For especially young kids, parents may provide some guidance, but it is important that the kids be able to call the project their own.
Also, this is a time to test out something you are wondering. Please stay away from demonstrations. Make sure you are asking a question and testing out a variable. Another great tip is to challenge yourself to find new and interesting projects. Moldy bread, sugar crystals, and paper airplanes have been done MANY times - push your brain!
***Make sure you look at the info packet at the bottom of this page to guide your project and get helpful tips.
Working with someone else.
Please check with your teacher to see if this option is available to you.
Need help choosing a topic?
When it comes to choosing a topic, the sky is the limit! What have you wondered about? The best topics come from your own genuine curiosity about how something works, or why something is the way that it is. Think about all the science you have done in class, do have more questions about those topics? If you have trouble thinking of something on your own, the internet is full of resources to help you choose a topic.
Judging and awards.
Our goal is to encourage scientific exploration and discovery and promote a deep lifelong passion for science. Each participant will have an opportunity to briefly present their project to an ESFE, and they will each receive a certificate and prize. There will be Super Scientist Awards for the top project in each classroom. IHS National Honors Society students will be judging the projects to determine a Super Scientist.
Submit your photos!
During the evening of the science fair, on the big screen we will be displaying a slide show of photos and videos taken by you! So parents -- while your young scientist is busy conducting that wild experiment, sneak out your digital camera and capture some shots. Then upload them here by Februry 23, so we can include them in the slide show. Note: All submissions may not be included in the show.
Volunteers needed!
